The things i needed to change were:
- make sure the models are wearing white
- use a thicker marker pen for the models to write with
- choose a different question
The question i used last time was 'how do you feel about having your photograph taken without giving consent?'. I felt the answers didn't provoke much opinion or emotion and as all my models were photographers they all gave a pretty similar answer.
I have struggled to find 'non-photographer' models so i feel this question will not work. Because of the struggle to find a 'non-photographer' model i realised it would be best to adapt the question to get the best answers out of my current models.
I started to research key/current debates in photography and whilst watching The Genius Of Photography i heard Nan Goldin being questioned about why she takes photographs? her response was 'Photographs enable you to never loose anyone and to hold onto these memories'. After hearing this i was inspired to use 'Why do you take photographs?' as my question.
I decided to take on board the things that needed changing and my new question and arrange a new shoot.
I videoed the models writing their answers then photographed them with their answer projected onto them and filmed them saying their answer.
I hope to start the short video with the question so 'Why do you take photographs?' then show the clip of them writing their answer then overlay the model speaking their answer with the still image of them being projected onto. This will happen for each model ( i am hoping to get at least 4) then at the end of the video i will overlay all the models speaking their different answers so it is a mash together of them all which will result in an overload of speech and end the video with 'What's your point of view?'
I feel this short video will evoke questions in everyones minds as to why they take photographs whether they are photographers or not? Do you take photographs because they look nice or is there a meaning behind them?
I have planned out the structure of my video which can be seen below...
These are the results of my second shoot...
